Battery made by viruses embedded into clothing
Batteries built by viruses may someday be used by spraying on military uniforms busted tees and wear top. Teams of scientists, one from MIT, one of the University of Maryland, used two different viruses to create the cathode and anode for lithium-ion battery.
If the attempts of scientists from Maryland busted tees uspeyat parts for lithium-ion batteries can literally be grown and harvested from tobacco plants. If scientists at MIT have success, lithium-ion batteries can be vtakvavat clothes by spraying a spray powering a wide range of electronic devices, from drones to cell phones.
"Typical soldiers have to carry several pounds of batteries. But if we can make their clothes in the battery, they can save a lot of weight, "said Mark Allen, Dr. Angela Belcher lab of MIT.
As anyone who has ever had the flu knows, viruses are incredibly effective at penetrating cells, hijacking their components busted tees and use them for self-reproducing. For centuries, doctors are trying to do everything possible to be able to stop or slow viruses. Now scientists are turning viruses busted tees in "extraordinary ability to produce large quantities of identical microscopic structures in favor of humanity."
At MIT and Maryland scientists used two viruses that are harmless to humans. In the MIT researchers used M13 - a virus that infects bacteria. In Maryland researchers have used tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), a common pathogen in tobacco plants. Virus may be different, but the shapes of each are similar - long, thin and cylindrical.
Allen and his colleagues eventually hope to increase the scale of production of batteries so that they can be sprayed on clothes, forming a lightweight, rechargeable and long-lasting lithium-ion batteries that can supply everything - from unmanned aerial apparatus used by the military to cell phones for civilians.
The new cathode, which is based on earlier work of scientists from MIT, is an environmentally friendly solution, since the process is realized at room temperature and in water. The cultivation of the virus in the field is the ultimate goal of scientists. The creation of the batteries in the form of spray clothes will be cheap and relatively easy.
Hahaha But "If the Maryland research pans out, the parts for lithium ion batteries could be grown in and harvested from tobacco busted tees plants." Http://news.discovery.com/tech/virus-built-batteries.html Come translate busted tees ... .
lol, you are unique .. "... parts for lithium-ion batteries can literally be grown and harvested from tobacco plants ..." Beer them huh? Heh, here another wrote: http://www.physorg.com/news201792094.html
